Objective:
This course will equip participants with invaluable tools and techniques to navigate diverse communication scenarios confidently and effectively. Combining theoretical foundations and practical applications, students will learn how to articulate their vision, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and build consensus within multidisciplinary teams. Courses are instructed by military and federal representatives. This course is part of the Department of Defense Master Planning Institute in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and can be applied to the Master Planning Certification.
Course Description:
- Collaborative Engagement: Develop active listening skills to engage with stakeholders while building constructive dialogue.
- Enhance Written Communication: Develop proficiency in articulating planning concepts and recommendations through written communication.
- Confidence in Public Speaking: Build confidence through practical exercises in presentations, learning ways to deliver engaging breifings.
- Essential Tools: Attain proficiency in traditional and digital graphic communication tools and platforms to enrich planning products.
Target Audience
This class has no prerequisites and is open to all government employees, the general public, and the consulting community. The class is suitable for planners in cities and towns, meeting the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification requirements for continuing education.
