The McIntire Business Institute (MBI) Professional Series: Upskilling With GenAI Workshop, taking place April 8-9, 202offers an exclusive opportunity to understand the transformative power of Generative AI (GenAI) within a business context. Guided by esteemed McIntire School of Commerce instructor, Jingjing Li, this in-person workshop delivers an immersive experience, focusing on critical skills such as prompt engineering, AI model fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, and the strategic deployment of AI agents—all while underscoring the paramount importance of AI safety and ethical practices.

 

This program is designed for business professionals with no technical backgrounds, and technical content will be taught in a low-code and no-code manner. Participants will gain a deep, practical understanding of GenAI, enabling them to interact with AI technologies more proficiently, make data-driven decisions with confidence, and optimize business operations. Learning Objectives

Professor Bio

Jingjing Li, Andersen Alumni Associate Professor, Co-Director of the M.S. in Business Analytics Program, and Associate Director of the Center for Business Analytics at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia

Jingjing Li’s research focuses on AI and big data analytics, with applications spanning search engines, healthcare, marketing, platforms, and public policy. Her work, published in top business journals, has received multiple awards, including the INFORMS Design Science Award, CIST Best Paper Award, INFORMS Data Science Workshop Best Paper Award, WITS Best Paper Award, WITS Best Prototype Award, and she was a finalist for the Shelby D. Hunt/Harold H. Maynard Award. Funded by organizations such as the NSF, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Jefferson Trust and UVA, her research continues to push the boundaries of AI. Professor Li has also been recognized for her excellence in teaching, receiving an award for her Business Intelligence course at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, being named Poets & Quants’ Best Undergraduate Professor in 2023, and receiving the 18th annual Faculty Award from UVA's Order of Claw and Dagger.
